Neat-O New Thingy Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

I don’t usually get excited about new-fangled bike parts, let alone plug them, but I think these are too cool to keep to myself.  I’ve been trying them out for a while and I really like ’em.  Good for CX, touring, or updating older road bikes with down tube shifters, assuming you don’t dig down tube shifters.

Retroshift levers set up with Shimano bar end shifters.

We’re a dealer now, so if you want a closer look swing by the shop and ask me, Casey.

Happy Valentine’s Day Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

Canfest this Saturday! Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Local, national and international breweries will attend CANFEST to show off their artisan canned beer

We found a perfect opportunity to blend two things we love most, bikes and brews, at the third annual Canned Beer Festival this weekend. Volunteers from RBP will be helping out at CanFest at the Reno Ballroom (address: 401 N. Virginia St.) this Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 starting at around 4:30.

If you haven’t done so already bring a bike down to the shop, the first 50 people to donate a bike will receive a $10 discount ticket to the festival. Hurry! We don’t have many tickets left!

Thanks to all the folks who already donated bikes, we’ll see you on Saturday!

Remember ride your bike to the event and we will keep it safe for you in our Bike Valet set up inside.

ALSO- On Saturday bring a bike to donate! We will still be accepting bike donations at Canfest!

Canfest was started in 2009 by Buckbean Brewing Co., a local brewery. They wanted to spread the word about the delights of canned beer to the public who might be wary of beer in a can because it brings back memories of college parties littered to the ceilings with Keystone Lite cans. Yuck. However beer can still be delicious if served by can, and if you’re skeptical ride down to this event to taste for yourself.

Tickets are $25, or $5 for designated drivers, at ticketmaster.com.

Ladies’ Night Group Ride Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

Hey Gals,

The one and only Lyndsey Langsdale is out of town this week, so we’re mourning her absence with a fun LADIES ONLY group ride. If you’ve never been to a Ladies’ Night this is a great opportunity for you to meet some of the foxy ladies who regularly attend our fun Tuesday night workshops. It’ll be a nice and social get together, we’ll probably ride for about an hour or less.

Kids are totally welcome! We will be riding on the safer, more quiet roads in downtown Reno.

NBA=NO BOYS ALLOWED :)

We heART Bikes at Northstar! Thursday, April 14th, 2011

The We heART Bikes show was a resounding success this year. We received over a hundred submissions from 44 artists (more than ever!), had over five hundred people attend the event, and we heard over and over during the show and after how impressed people were with the continuing quality of the art year after year. In all, we were able to raise over 4,000 dollars due to the immense level of community support!

Fortunately, we have an opportunity to put on a second show during the Tour of California. We will be holding the Northstar art show on May 14th and 15th in anticipation of the finish of the first stage. Let this be another CALL FOR ARTISTS!
50% of the proceeds of the art sales will go to the RBP.
Submissions should be received by Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 5 p.m. Please mail or deliver submissions to the Reno Bike Project at 541 East 4th Street, Reno, Nevada 89512 or to Northstar-at-Tahoe Events Office (located above security in the Village). Please call 775.323.4488 or 530.562.8048 for additional information.
