Reno Bike Project (RBP) is a non-profit community bicycle shop and resource for the Truckee Meadows committed to creating a nationally recognized, cycling-friendly community through education, cooperation and advocacy.
Howdy folks!

Bike to Work, School, & Fun Week is in high gear here in Reno, and RBP helped to kick off the week by supporting the Aces’ Bike to the Ballpark with a Bike Valet.  Bike to Work, School, & Fun Week is organized by the Truckee Meadows Bicycle Alliance, and they have a lot of fun events going on all week.  Check bikenevada.org for more information on all of the events hosted by the community.  RBP even has a couple more events in store for you!

Mayoral Challenge and Ride for Reading – Thursday, May 15th – 9am

RBP will be supporting both the Mayoral Challenge and the Ride for Reading.  The Mayoral Challenge begins at the Sparks City Hall and ends at the Discovery Museum.  RBP staff will be joining in on the ride, and you should too!  Afterwards, we will be helping to deliver books to the students at Echo Loder Elementary School as part of Safe Routes to School’s first annual Ride for Reading Event in Reno.

Starting at the Discovery Museum after the Mayoral Challenge Bike Ride, bike riders (like you!) will help deliver donated books to Echo Loder Elementary School.  Volunteer riders will arrive after the Mayoral Challenge (or at 10am if you are not doing the Mayoral Challenge), and we will get your backpacks loaded with books to take down to Echo Loder as part of a group ride.  Once we arrive at the school, we will set up all of the books on tables, talk to the kids about cycling and reading, and how both keep your body and mind healthy!  Afterwards, all the children will get to pick out and take home a book.  We have collected over 1,000 books, so there will be no shortage of choices for the kids.  If you would like to participate in the event, please arrive at the Discovery Museum between 10am and 10:30am to sign up, and get your books packed.  There will be a limited supply of extra backpacks to help carry books, but if you know you will be attending, it will be a big help if you bring your own backpack.

RBP will be opening at noon so that staff can ride in these events.

Don’t Miss Out on RBP’s 8th Annual Pancake Feed!

Then on Friday morning, RBP will be hosting it’s 8th Annual Pancake Feed in support of bicycle commuters for Bike to Work, School, & Fun Week.  Stop by the shop between 6am and 10am for free pancakes and coffee!  It is sure to be a great time, and it’ll be a great way to fuel your morning commute.
