We also plan to create a production center for our staff in the new RBP building where they can work, free from the distractions of the public, overhauling and repairing bikes. With so much activity in our shop, it’s often challenging to focus on a single project; this new space is over 6000 sq/ft, so there is both ample storage and workspace. This space also provides us an opportunity to host our FutureCycle program outside or already crowded and bustling Grove St. operation.
Lastly, Burning Man. Last year we sold approximately 840 bikes to Burning Man attendees, and those bikes take up a lot of room. In our old space, we could store about 500 bikes, with another 300+ next door and in additional rented storage space. In this new space we think we can store close to 2000 bikes. This will free up almost 2000 sq/ft of storage in our Grove St. location and allow us to keep all our bikes in one location, improving the efficiency of operations.
We will need some help setting up this new location, as well as need some fixtures and supplies to get set up. Look for updates to help in the near future, in our newsletter.
