About Reno Bike Project

We’re built around the belief that the bicycle is the world’s greatest, most utilized mode of transportation and that every individual, regardless of age, gender, race, or class has a right to afford, maintain, and enjoy one.

Our Story

Noah Chubb-Silverman and Kyle Kozar grew up riding bikes in Reno and getting to know the community. After going their separate ways, Kyle continued his education at UNR while Noah attended school in Bellingham, WA and volunteered at a local community bike shop. When they came back together in Reno, they saw the need for a community bike shop in the greater Truckee Meadows area, thus the idea of Reno Bike Project was born! The two founders sat down one day in October of 2006 and finalized the idea, reaching out to friends and family to gain support, and get the ball rolling.

Since 2006, RBP has become even more impactful than was originally imagined. We not only provide accessible resources for bike repair and mechanic education to the Reno community, but also offer a variety of accessible programs that further our mission of getting more butts on more bikes, more often!

Our Core Values

We build more than bikes.

Inclusivity

We strive to make cycling more accessible to the public through recycling and recirculation of used bikes into the community at affordable prices. Our goal is to provide bikes, parts, service, and education to anyone who needs it, regardless of background, income, or identity.

Empowerment

& Education

We encourage self-sufficiency by holding bike mechanics workshops and by providing a space for community members to repair their own bicycles rather than incur maintenance costs. We advocate for health and wellbeing of our community members, staff, and volunteers.

Sustainability

We strive to make Reno more sustainable and bike friendly by recycling and reusing bicycles, teaching bicycle repair classes, advocating for safe cycling and infrastructure in the Reno area, and providing bikes to folks as a means of emission-less transportation.

Fun & Respect

We aim to create a fun and respectful working environment in the shop for staff, volunteers, and community members. We extend these values into the community by offering fun and accessible events, programs, and workshops.

Community

We collaborate with other local organizations and work with our generous volunteers to extend RBP's reach in the community. We provide accessible and fun educational opportunities for both youth and adults in the area, and strive to contribute to Reno’s continual growth as a diverse and vibrant community.

Solutions

Our well-trained and passionate team of mechanic educators and program staff work together to come up with creative solutions in order to build a more accessible and sustainable cycling community in Reno.

Our Supporters

There’s something about the bicycle that has, from its very beginnings, attracted an impressive mix of supporters. Today, the same eclectic mix of fans can be heard singing the praises of RBP, and for that we are forever grateful.

Better Together

RPB is made up of far more than its staff and board and we are lucky to have volunteers of all shapes and sizes who give much more than their time and money. Our supporters give their skills, expertise, passions, a little space on their soap box, specialized services and anything else we need to keep the gears running smoothly. RBP is lucky and grateful to have so much support from the community and the list below is by no means comprehensive however we would like to thank the following groups and individuals for their support.

Want to Support RBP?

When you become an RBP member you will be supporting our organization and providing a means for us to continue pursuing our goal of making the Truckee Meadows one of the greatest cycling communities in the county.
