Whether you’re an experienced mechanic or completely new to bike repair, join RBP for two upcoming volunteer parties to fix bikes, mingle with fellow volunteers and help children experience the joys of riding a bike. RBP will provide the food and drink, but volunteers bring the spirit, along with proof of vaccination (can be emailed to email@example.com before the event). Any member of the community who has a bike they do not use anymore is encouraged to donate it to be refurbished or recycled. Please consider donating larger kids’ bikes, helmets and working locks. Cash donations are appreciated as well, and spent on replacement parts for kids’ bikes that could use more than a tune-up. Donations should be brought to 216 E Grove St. during shop hours.
Since 2011 volunteers fixed and spruced over 1550 bikes, which RBP donated to The Children’s Cabinet, Reno Housing Authority, Ashlee’s Toy Closet, and Walker River Paiute Tribe. Some of the families that get these bikes do not have a permanent place to call home and live in shelters or other temporary housing. The gift of a bike gives their children something to call their own.
