Trek 720 Disc

The May bike of the month is this 2016 Trek 720 Disc. This bike is only a few years old and was donated by one of the founding members of Bicycle Warehouse, which explains how pristine it is. The bike weighs in under 22 lbs., but comes loaded with Shimano Sora drivetrain, Bontrager ‘pony set, TRP HY/RD cable/hydro disc brakes, and three sets of cage mounts. Significantly less futuristic-looking than many of its contemporaries, the 720’s aluminum frame syncs neatly with its skinny-as-steel stays and a tapered, triangular-bladed carbon fork. That fork, and the broad Bontrager bar with shock-absorbing inserts under the tape dampen bumps in the road, and the fork, stays and (tubeless-ready!) rims will fit tires up to 35mm if you don’t mind a slight increase in weight and want a more forgiving ride. Alternatively, the bike is ready for fenders. Perfect for either sport touring or fast rides with the lycra crowd, or more of a mule with the addition of a rear rack and front panniers, this medium (54cm) frame fits a rider 5’5″-5’9″ ready to spend $700.
