Reno Bike Project has been an on going volunteer project for about a year and a half. It’s hard to for those of us, and there are many, that work daily on this project to notice the immense growth, scope, and affect that the project has in our community. It is easy to get wrapped up in the day to day work, fun, or occasional bump in the road, and forget how great this project is, and how great will continue to become. It is only a question of time.
I was in the Reno Bike Project shop today and realized how much we have accomplished. And when I say we, I mean WE! This project started from an idea typed in an email that was sent to only three people. That idea started a wild fire of interest and now, piece by piece, we have created any amazing service for the community (that continues to improve), a struggling but striving grassroots advocacy endeavor that really looks to prove what is possible in the City of Reno, and an incredible volunteer-friendship base that would have never happened otherwise. It is truly amazing what can happen when people come together for a common cause. Not to get all political, but Reno Bike Project is a small ground-level example, just think what could happen in this country is if people could set aside and respect each others differences to work together for a common cause. I can’t even imagine. Anyhow, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for riding your bikes and all the work you do to keep the idea alive. YOU ROCK!
