Reno Bike Project (RBP) is a non-profit community bicycle shop and resource for the Truckee Meadows committed to creating a nationally recognized, cycling-friendly community through education, cooperation and advocacy.
We are excited to announce that we are working on opening a second location, at 635 E. 4th Street, this June. We kind of stumbled upon this location in looking for additional storage, but it provides several opportunities for growth, and we are excited for this next phase. This second location allows us to better serve downtown and UNR. When we moved to Grovetown (look out, Midtown!) we lost proximity and, in many cases, the customers from that area. Our second location, just one block east of our old shop, will bring our affordable resources back to that neighborhood back, where the bicycle traffic has always been heavy, and will only increase following completion of the 4th-Prater corridor redesign that includes bike lanes.

We also plan to create a production center for our staff in the new RBP building where they can work, free from the distractions of the public, overhauling and repairing bikes. With so much activity in our shop, it’s often challenging to focus on a single project; this new space is over 6000 sq/ft, so there is both ample storage and workspace. This space also provides us an opportunity to host our FutureCycle program outside or already crowded and bustling Grove St. operation.

Lastly, Burning Man. Last year we sold approximately 840 bikes to Burning Man attendees, and those bikes take up a lot of room. In our old space, we could store about 500 bikes, with another 300+ next door and in additional rented storage space. In this new space we think we can store close to 2000 bikes. This will free up almost 2000 sq/ft of storage in our Grove St. location and allow us to keep all our bikes in one location, improving the efficiency of operations.

We will need some help setting up this new location, as well as need some fixtures and supplies to get set up. Look for updates to help in the near future, in our newsletter.
