Welcome to Reno Bike Project

The organization is built around the belief that the bicycle is the world’s greatest, most utilized mode of transportation and that every individual, regardless of age, gender, race, or class has a right to afford, maintain, and enjoy one.

Bike Swap Coming in May!

This year’s Bike Swap—one of our most-anticipated events—will accompany Reno Riverfest on Saturday, May 7!

We’ll have great deals on good-as-new, used, and vintage bikes. Guest vendors will be selling more bikes, parts, and cycling accoutrements. Even if you aren’t interested in buying a bike, browsing the Bike Swap can be lots of fun for the family or pack of pals.

Got a bike or three you’d like to sell? We’ll do it for you while you spend the day at the festival or relax at home. Drop off your bike at our shop on 4th St starting April 20, or at the Bike Swap between 8am and 10am on May 7. The 20% consignment fee will benefit Reno Bike Project’s education, advocacy, and outreach programs.

Interested in being a vendor at the event? If you’re a shop, cycling club, or just have too much bike stuff in the garage, we’d love to have you there. Participation is free for vendors who already have a City of Reno business license! Get in touch and we’ll put you on the list.

Please contact Genevieve Parker with any questions.

Packed to the Gills

Happy New Year! RBP hopes 2016 is only treating you right.

We know the weather may be a little bit chilly and a little wet for riding at present (for some); but if you’ve been thinking about getting a new bike come spring, right now is actually prime time to find the perfect introductory bicycle or upgrade! Why? Business is slow and we have had LOTS of time to work on overhauls. We haven’t had such a well-stocked floor in years!

Come on down; our shop staff would is lonely and would be happy to show our full stock off and help you find just what you want.

Freewheels for Kids: What You Can Do!

Reno Bike Project’s Freewheels for Kids outreach program provides free bikes to kids in need during the holiday season. Children’s bikes, donated by community members, are repaired and tuned up by RBP volunteers. Those bikes are then donated to community organizations who distribute the bikes to families in extreme need. Last year RBP repaired and donated nearly 200 bicycles to children whose families could not afford one. We are always hoping to exceed the previous year’s number to bring the joy of cycling to more kids in the community.

Join us for one (or two!) Community Work Parties on December 5 and December 12, from 11a-3p, to work on bikes for the tykes, under the supervision of RBP mechanics. Enjoy refreshments and the company of other service-minded people. No experience needed to volunteer!

Meet Me At Mayberry

For this month’s Slow Roll, we plan to lead you along a beautiful western portion of the Truckee River and introduce those who may not be familiar with the fine local establishments grouped at Mayberry Landing, the business plaza on Mayberry & McCarren. This is recognized as the start of the popular “Verdi Loop” bike route, so these businesses see a lot of cyclists and welcome our visit. Riders are encouraged to show them that “bikes mean business” by getting a bite from one of the restaurants or perusing the other interesting shops! Click the linked flier to see more info and which businesses are giving Slow Rollers a special discount or freebee!
