Klein Quantum

For a second month, our feature bike is a Klein! This one is an early Quantum: possibly a custom order, probably circa 1990. This was Klein’s top-of-the-line, featherlight-for-the-time racing frame, built with Dura Ace, the best Shimano components. Aluminum frames were well-established by the early ’90s, and Klein (among other names) was starting to introduce the oversized tubing you see. Klein devotees praise the superb paint quality of this era, which has survived the grit and tiny rocks kicked up over almost 20 years. The frame is 51cm, the smallest that Klein produced at the time. This candy-coated racer fits a rider 5’2″-5’5″. Brand new, this cost around $2,000, but you can have it for $450!
